The Blake Family Maternity Photoshoot

This family maternity photoshoot was rescheduled because of the rain multiple times. We changed up the locations and were gambling with a 3 year old staying up way past her bedtime. Yet, this session turned out perfectly! It was one of those family photoshoots where we all left thinking “well that was fun and easy!”.

If you are a family photographer, you know that is not always the case with kids. I truly lucked out with this family and experience. Thank you Blake family for trusting me to capture all the love you embody!

What to wear to a Family Photoshoot

When my couples ask me for advice on outfits and how to coordinate, the most important thing I say is to feel like yourself. I think we can get caught up in dressing up elaborately or matching every piece of clothing to our loved ones. In capturing my couples and their family in their truest essence, they need to feel comfortable to be themselves. The Blake family did a beautiful job in coordinating an effortless and natural look in what they wore. One can see this embodied through the photos.

For her first dress, Kelli wore a free-flowing maxi from ASOS. The floral details on her white dress paired seamlessly with her daughter’s light pink dress. You can tell they felt comfortable playing around with their poses, both standing, seating, or squatting. Kelli’s partner had no pink on him, rather an army green colored shirt and black pants. The mix and match outfits paired so well when they all got together.

For the second portion of their family maternity photoshoot, Kelli and {name} kept their outfit change simple. She switched up the floral one for a lace-off-the-shoulder dress. {name} changed his shirt to a light blue colored one. Keeping the mix and match theme fun and easy! Can we also take a moment to appreciate how BOTH her dresses accentuated Kelli’s beautiful bump??
