I am SO SO SO excited to finally get this shoot up on the blog. It’s only been what… 3 or 4 months? AH! Ok, so this session was recently featured over on Lemonade & Lenses, but they only published the “light” images, so I wanted to do a full blog post encompassing our overall concept for this session.

About a week before this shoot, nothing was set up. I had been away from shooting for a little while since I had my son, so I really wanted to do a fun and creative session to get my creative juices flowing. I had been talking to a local model since I was pregnant, and we had discussed working together in the future, but never set a date or concept. I messaged my friend Megan (makeup artist) and told her I was itching to do a shoot that focused on two completely different looks. I am intrigued by light vs dark, and as an artist herself, she was equally excited to explore two opposite looks on one model. After getting her and Samantha (model) on board, I contacted another close friend of mine, Alex (hair) and asked if she wouldn’t mind doing a simple, yet elegant, braid of some sort. She was in! Then, I knew I wanted a flower crown, because that is the epitome of “light” and feminine and soft. The girls at Good Seed Floral (Taylor and JoAnna) were on board as well, so within a single week, we had a full shoot planned and ready to go! We used a beautiful private property in Albany, OR, and the lighting/location couldn’t have been more perfect.

This shoot is one of my favorites, hands down, for so many reasons. Mostly though, I love that so many creative people came together on such short notice, just to create! We didn’t need a big set, props, or lots of decorations. We just focused on raw and simple beauty, and it was so rejuvenating!
