I honestly don’t even know how or where to begin this post. 2015 was unbelievably good to me, and it is something I definitely do not take for granted. Personally, it’s the year my husband and I moved into our first home, it’s the year I quit my full time job, and above all else: it’s the year we welcomed our first child in to this big ol’ world. It’s surreal to look back on this last year and just see how much has changed. For my business… this small passion, turned full time career, I cannot even wrap my mind around the various opportunities 2015 brought my way. There are no words. I remember telling Alex that I wish I could be a photographer. That I wish I had the courage to just take my dream and go for it, without hesitation, without fear of failure, without doubt. I remember him seeming nearly dumb founded when he said “then why don’t you just do it?” Let me just say one thing about this man: he is the one who had faith in my and dreams, when I didn’t. So, I did it! I quit my job, bought new camera equipment, studied A LOT, watched tutorials, read blogs, watched seminars, had coffee dates with other artists I admire, and I shot as much as I could so I could simply: practice. The support I’ve received has been the most uplifting and humbling. I’ve met people that I never would’ve met, had photography not been the avenue. I’m now involved in communities that inspire me daily. My little passion has turned in to a full blown addiction. I’m addicted to photography, to people, to love, to moments, to life! YOU guys made this possible for me. When I doubt myself, when I get scared, when I think “maybe I shouldn’t be doing this….” YOU guys are there to virtually slap me in the face and keep me going 😉 And you know what? That’s pretty amazing.
So, 2015, thank you for being so epic. For all the lessons learned and opportunities seized. I am so excited to continue this journey of growth as an artist in 2016, and I can’t wait to look back next year and see how much I’ve changed!
Enjoy this: Year In Review: 2015 blog post! AND, to every single person who hired me/trusted me/chose me to photograph and document these amazing times in your life, thank you. Sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Equally, to every vendor/assistant/photographer who worked with me, you’re all so amazing and I’m still honored for each experience.
