Danielle & Cody // Oregon Engagement // Monique Serra Photography

Happy Monday! I am absolutely LOVING these crisp/chilly fall mornings. Being warm and cozy inside, drinking coffee, and editing…. a perfect start to any day!
I’m excited to get Cody & Danielle’s engagement session up on the blog! It was the first session I did where I could really tell… it’s FALL. Now, this session was the most eventful shoot I’ve ever been on. Why? Well….

About 15 minutes in to their session, we were walking around a beautiful field to chase the sun. I was chatting and asking them questions about their lives, their love story, their future, etc. Mindlessly just walking across the field (like I always do), I feel a sharp pain in my inner thigh. My first thought “Oh watch out there’s a thorny plant over here.” But, nope. No plants. No weeds. Just open field. I look down and see a single hornet on my thigh (I’ve never been bit or stung), and I panic a bit. I swat the hornet off and think all is well. Until, I feel these sharp pains ALL OVER ME. I look down and I am being swarmed by the hornets!! Yep, I stepped on their nest! Cody was smart and RAN. Danielle quickly followed (but not after getting bit herself-several times). Me? I just franticly try and get all the hornets off! Apparently-you don’t do that. Note to self: YOU RUN AWAY. I ended up getting 6/7 bites on one inner thigh, and then additional bites on my other leg, my back, my bottom, and my neck. But, here we were at their engagement shoot, with gorgeous light & a beautiful couple (who drove in to town just for the session). So, YOU KEEP GOING!!

Cody & Danielle were such troopers-I was insanely impressed. Especially poor Danielle, who was bit multiple times! They rocked their session, smiling, flirting, and enjoying the experience overall. I am so thankful for their good attitudes, because the entire experience could’ve been much worse. All in all, we still had a good time, and I loved getting to hear about how they met & their upcoming wedding. I am so thankful for such amazing/sweet/loving/and happy couples!

Side note: the bites itched like CRAZY for almost 2 weeks!!! Now, it’s safe to say I’m just a little bit terrified of those suckers.
