As an artist, it is SO important to have creative flexibility. I absolutely love what I do, and each day I feel more and more blessed that this is slowly becoming my career. I don’t ever want to lose the passion I have for photography, or the fire it still ignites in my soul. I find so much joy in making people feel beautiful and being able to capture moments in time that could so easily disappear in the chaos of every day life. What I need, however, is the ability to be creative and spontaneous and artistic. I’ve decided that every few months I’m going to do a styled or collaborative shoot that allows me to have full control of what is being captured. This shoot was the start of that, and something I am so grateful for!
One of the many things that I’m captivated by is dance; the strength, confidence and poise that a dancer carries, the passion behind every move, and the drive it takes to be so disciplined. For this shoot I knew I wanted to photograph a dancer, but what I didn’t want was an entire session focused solely on the dance. Rather, I wanted people to be drawn to the beauty of the dancer and the open space surrounding us. I contacted a close friend of mine (who happens to be a dance instructor) and asked her if she would be interested in collaborating, while letting me have complete control of the session. We met up at 5am to capture the sunrise (in 20degree weather!), and everything came together so beautifully! I feel absolutely blessed to have been able to be make my vision come to life!
